The Real War: Separatism in Any Aspect of Life

Dear Friends,

I've just going back home from Angkringan, road-side food stall which are frequented visit by lower class people in Indonesia. The reason for me to come quite often there is the cheap rate of Rp 4000 [US$ 0.48] for a small, fist-sized portion of rice along with toppings and the cozy environment to be easy to talk one to another visitor even one to another is stranger :)

There is no objection from each of us if suddenly we participate into another visitor conversation. Guess what happen next? We become friends.

It is hard to find this opportunity in other eatery place, I believe, which is most visited by high class, busy person with high tight schedule and no spontaneous talk can come up.

Do you know how I start the conversation with stranger? By seeing similarity with others. At the time I see a young woman take tofu more than once, I said,"I like tofu, too."

We start friendship, get connected to another because of similarity. But what happen to our global daily life currently? Racial hatred, the effects of media suppression, distortion and bias, that still occur around the world — both near and far from home. We cannot stop separate ourselves to others by seeing the differences.

I remember what Ratu Rania ever said about world war. She said the real world war nowadays is between the radical and moderate movement. It is intruded in any aspect of our life.

When we try to construct a harmony, yes we may do critical thinking to shape better condition. But we should imply it by involving ourselves in other person or country development.

So the real war we face currently is separatism in any aspect of life which is contrary with the spirit of better living for all without discrimination.

Memang lebih mudah nyari perbedaan.
Tapi memang lebih keren n kreatif bila kita bisa menemukan kesamaan antara kita dan orang lain. Similarity in diversity. Betul ga Mbak? Hehehe

simple differences between angkringan and eatery place situation are silent reflection of today. But, if our standard is God's view, insyaaAllah we can minimize it. Like Islam way, rahmatan lil 'alamin.
